BULGARIA 2000-2025
Since 2000, I have returned again and again to Bulgaria, building a visual diary of everyday life. What began as a curiosity became a long-term observation — a quiet conversation with a city and its people. The first years were photographed in black-and-white film, capturing the textures of a society still negotiating its post-transition identity. Later, as I shifted to digital color, the work evolved alongside the city itself: new tones, new rhythms, new layers of change. This series is not about dramatic events or monumental histories. Instead, it focuses on the ordinary — the gestures, routines, and small encounters that reveal how people inhabit their world: these are the moments of beauty where hoi polloi truly speaks.
